My bro wonderful painting, i just colour the skin part, and add the details of infections at the hands and fingers and the eye, till my mom beg me to stop becoz she dont want the schoolkids to freakout.
Proud collab. by me and my parents.Batik style.
Me and my bro Amir, did this in 2 days.
My mom and her staff did this.
Sweet collaboration of me, all my siblings and ibu.
Heliconia and ficus by me and ibu. Abah love heliconia so ibu said this is dedicated to him.
I think the best part of the job is i paint at school, on the hallways. So, in a way i got my own viewers, fans and supporters. And they are cute school children...curious and eager. they will stop on their way to class, or the assembly place, or the canteen...stop to see me paint. And ask this and that...
"How do u do it?"
"Where do u learn to paint?"
And throw some compliments.. (hehe, let just call em encouragements.)
"Lawala cikgu" -->yup they call me teacher, and i love it. Coz to me, teachers are honorable beings. Cuter, if we walk pass em, they will give this super polite bow and say, "Assalamualaikum cikgu...aww...can i take one of em as pet?
And when we draw, they will try to guess what we are trying to do, what word we are trying to write.
Then, after the murals are done...they really like it. And one of my favorite thing is, the mural does deliver the intended message. For example, i did one that has these words, "Hidup Berkualiti Tanpa Dadah." Even before the completion, the kids that pass by will chant the wordings... it makes my heart flowers in happiness every time i heard that phrase. And i did one with this scary looking sick pakcik on top of drugs, to portray that drugs mess up with ur life bad. While painting, i heard the kids discussing that they hate drugs, cigarette and all that. I guess, murals are really great medium to get the msg tru...and also beautify the school. All this, make me very fond of the tiring job, itself.
It takes like 3 days to finish a wall average.By a day...its like 10 am till 7pm. I use PELAKA, mural colour...Mom gets me all the colours and tools that i need, even the apron. The tools:
> brushes. Loads of em.
> palates. but usually i just mix the colours on pelaka lids.
> chair and ladder. It gets high sometimes.
> pencil and ruler and eraser. For sketching.
> old newspapers. For alas and dabbing dry the brushes.
> Water. u noe la.
> Lacquer spray. for glossy and lasting mural.
Mom bought a tube of gold shiny pelaka for outline of our batik murals. It cost RM130 per Kg. Gle mahal,kn?
But im glad, my whole family can help sometimes.
> Ibu. She's the boss. One who give out missions. And responsible for most of concept, and sometimes design and coloring. Shes really good at painting leaves.
> Abah. His coloring (tones and shades) is really nice.Usually helps a bit before we get home.
> Ame. Super good sketch. His style is solid colour, so usually i help with shades.
> Madihah. Ultra-patient and superb with outlines. Her outlines are thin and smooth.
> Hamdan. Very good with coloring but have hard time staying at the site coz he's extremely ezly distracted by.....
> Aiman. basicly, he's the best critics around. He's so mean u will cry. Just dont let he touch that brush! Or he will do it his own way.
> Me? I do all the job. But my weakness is the outlining.
I think we can make a business out of painting mural.
p/s: I wanna learn n try to make graffiti or graffiti style painting.
